"Jesus said: You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you." (John 15:16)

First month, touch down, and SAFE!

I started teaching again three weeks ago and I am now a third and forth grade Maths and Science teacher in my school. I am grateful every day when I wake up and get ready for school because I am very much in love doing what I am doing at the moment. Praise the Lord!

Maths and Science are subjects that I have been carefully avoiding ever since elementary school so when I first got to know that the school needed me to teach Maths and Science I was pretty shocked (in a noot so good way). However, the post-TFM me inside seemed to have been through far too much an obstacle and before I knew it, I caught my tongue and my lips working saying: I would love to take up the challenge!

I understand that I just need to make sure that I work extra hard when it involves teaching subjects I am not fond of. However, teaching these subjects did not seem as scary as I thought in the first place. There are so many benefits of teaching these two subjects!

The grading part is so much simpler compared to language subjects for starters. Objectives are clearer too! And we get to do so many experiments together! I enjoy learning to love Maths and Science with my kids right now.

We just completed our first round of station games and we love it! I used stations to help students revise the topic covered in the first month. I selected 8 station masters from students who have mastered the objectives (the students were thrilled to be selected) and station masters will pose questions to other students during Maths Centres Day and students who can answer correctly get stamps.

Students have fun while I understand students mastery level through their stamp sheets (: I love stations!

Right now, we are having a 6-day break for the Chinese New Year celebration and I can't deny the fact that I like this part of the job too, the holidays are a great time for teachers to reflect upon their teaching, recharge and bounce back into class stronger and more determined.

I am enjoying my holiday but I am looking forward to go back to my classes in another 2 days as well!
